Official Press Release - Daily Express
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
Official Press Release
Yesterday headline in the Daily Express was, "Now the Cross is Banned".
It is about a young girl called Sam Morris, who has been banned from wearing a crucifix to her local Sinfin Community School in Derby. The paper claims the situation is "crazy" compared to the fact that Sikhs are allowed to wear Kirpans to the same school. Then it has a picture of a large 2-3ft kirpan. The front page is very sensationalist to outrage as much as possible. The article is continued on page 7 of the paper, with another picture of the necklace and the big kirpan next to it.
Following the article, BOSS Representative/ London Co-ordinators, sent out a letter on behalf of London and Home Counties Sikh Societies to the Daily Express. We have attached the letter for circulation.
